The World Cup 2023 is at its fag end and India have already sealed a place in the final at Ahmedabad with dominating performance throughout the tournament. So, as the marquee event nears its end, the discussion and debates regarding the player of the tournament is getting intensier.

So, ahead of the final, Matthew Hayden, the Australian great has come up with his favourite cricketer for the award and it is not Virat Kohli (the highest run-getter) or Mohammed Shami (highest wicket-taker). He has gone with Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper who he credited for his aggressive batting at the top of the order.

Hayden praised Rohit Sharma for the impact he has made in the tournament as his 550 runs have come at a strike rate of 124.15. Rohit has also bagged a record of most sixes in a single edition and his strokeplay in the Powerplay has bamboozled almost all opponents in this World Cup.

Here is what Matthew Hayden said on Star Sports -

His selfless attitude has been praised from all corners and along with his batting, his leadership has also been top-notch. It would be interesting to see how he goes about his business in the final and if he ends up batting for more than 20 overs, we might just see a huge hundred from Hitman in the final.
