All eyes will be on Virat Kohli as the India star will play his third consecutive Champions Trophy final when Team India will take on New Zealand in a riveting battle at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. India's number 3 has been in sublime form in the tournament and will be the key player once again in the all-important finale.

Interestingly, the two teams have contested in two finals since the start of the century and New Zealand have been victoriuous on both the occassions (CT final 2000, WTC final, 2021). India, however, have won the last two ODI meetings between the two teams and will enter the competition as favourites. Their star player, Kohli, is close to several records in the final and could break a few against the Kiwis.

Kohli to surpass Sangakkara in a massive milestone

The champion batter already has a hundred and a match-winning fifty under his belt in the Champions Trophy 2025, and if he can score 54 runs against the Kiwis in the finale, he will become the second highest run-getter in ODI history.

At the moment, Kohli has 14180 runs in 301 matches, while Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara has 14234 runs in 404 ODIs. The leading run-scorer in ODIs is Sachin Tendulkar, who has 18400 runs.

Set to break Chris Gayle's record

The Universe Boss, Chris Gayle is the leading run-getter in the Champions Trophy history with 791 runs in 17 matches. Kohli, currently has 746 runs in 17 matches and if he scores 47 runs in the final, Kohli will surpass Gayle to become the highest run-getter in Champions Trophy.
