Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) sealed their playoff qualification after making it two in two this season against Mumbai Indians (MI), comfortably winning their home game by 18 runs.

Varun Chakravarthy prominently featured with the ball as they defended 157 in 16 overs with his valiant display of 2/17 in the four-over quota. Andre Russell and Harshit Rana took 2 wickets each as well, however, conceding 34 each in their 3 allowed overs.

Chakravarthy was adjudged the Player of the Match for his economic display. In the post-match interview, he revealed how he 'meticulously' planned for Rohit Sharma's wicket which he celebrated wildly.

"[On his celebration] I'd never taken Rohit bhai's wicket, I'd meticulously planned and it came off. The plan was to make him hit across the line and not through the line."

Discussing how he and Sunil Narine plan when they bowl, he told how he watched the veteran and learned from the things he does.

"(Sunil) Narine and I do talk. Tactically we are different, technically we are similar. He bowls from the front of the wrist, and I bowl from the back but there are similarities. I see what he does well, and how he is improving every match."

Talking about the lackluster start of his season and how things have changed in the last few games, he stressed on how the wickets and conditions played a role early on in the season.

"I have done the same things. Wickets were too flat initially and even mis-hits were going for sixes. I've been bowling the same, results are coming now."

Varun Chakravarthy, in the 12 games so far has taken 18 wickets at an economy of 8.34, sitting just behind Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel's 20 each in Purple Cap's race.
