The fourth Test match between India and England in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy ended in a draw on July 27 at Old Trafford, Manchester. After suffering tough defeats earlier in the series at Headingley and Lord’s, India showed great determination and fought back strongly to keep the series alive.
Despite the pressure of being 2-1 down in the series, India’s batters put up a strong fight in the second innings. Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Shubman Gill each scored centuries, while captain KL Rahul played a crucial knock of 90 runs. Their efforts ensured that England couldn’t take a win in Manchester, helping India avoid another defeat and keeping their hopes alive in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

England remain in third place with a points percentage (PCT) of 54.17. They have played four matches in this cycle, winning two, losing one, and drawing one. However, due to a slow over-rate offence in the Lord’s Test, England were penalized two points. So instead of 28 points, they currently hold 26.
India, on the other hand, continue to sit in fourth place. They have played four matches as well, with one win, two losses, and one draw. This gives them a total of 16 points and a PCT of 33.33. Despite the draw in Manchester, they couldn’t climb the standings but have managed to stay within reach of the top contenders.
While India and England battle it out, Australia continue to dominate the WTC 2025-27 points table. The Aussies have won all three of their matches so far, all against the West Indies, giving them a perfect record with a PCT of 100. They currently sit comfortably at the top of the table. Sri Lanka follow in second place, having won one of their two matches, with a PCT of 50.
Other teams like New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa have not yet played a game in this WTC cycle. The points system remains the same as before: 12 points are awarded for a win, four points for a draw, and six points for a tie.
Teams do not get any points for a loss. At the end of this cycle, the top two teams will face each other in the WTC Final, which will be played at Lord’s in June 2027.
