India to host Women's T20 World Cup

The country has witnessed riots, protests, violence, alongside internet shutdown in the last couple of weeks. Since the situation has worsen in the last few days, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is planning to move the entire event out of the country, with India being the likely destination for the Women's T20 World Cup.

"The ICC is closely monitoring developments in coordination with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), their security agencies and our own independent security consultants. Our priority is the safety and well-being of all participants," an ICC Spokesperson said to ICC on Monday.

For the mega event, which is to be scheduled in Bangladesh, ten teams will participate and will play 23 matches over 18 days in two venues - the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet. The event is set to commence from October 3 to 20.

The ICC, in a couple of days will speak to the Bangladesh Cricket Board, over the feasibility of holding the tournament in the nation. However, recent developments have suggested that the Women's World Cup will be hosted by India.
