Ahead of the clash against India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan opener, Imam-ul-Haq found himself amidst a flurry of mixed reactions online.

Imam-ul-Haq faced backlash for stylish off-field avatar

While the left-handed batter has been receiving accolades for his on-field performance, his recent social media post showcasing a stylish avatar was not received well by all.

In a video posted on Twitter, Imam is seen flaunting a dapper outfit - a black long coat with velvet lapels, paired with a crisp white shirt, black trousers, and polished leather shoes. The black shades he wore added the finishing touch to his look.

Accompanied by background music, he captioned the video, “Style check,” followed by a black spade emoji.

While many fans lauded the cricketer’s sense of style, a particular section did not seem too impressed. The critics asked the 27-year-old to channel his energies on improving his batting skills instead of focusing on off-field appearances.

Here’s a look at a few reactions:

It's worth noting that Imam has been in impressive form during the Asia Cup, with 83 runs in two innings at an average of 41.5. His recent 78-run knock against Bangladesh in the first clash of Super Fours was applauded by the cricketing community.

However, the main concern for many fans is the upcoming game against India on Sunday, September 10 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The earlier encounter saw a washout due to rain after India’s innings, denying Imam an opportunity to show his skills against the arch-rivals.

As the expectations mount, fans are eagerly waiting to see if Imam can replicate his form against India, especially with the World Cup 2023 approaching quickly. It remains to be seen if the southpaw will answer his critics with a defining performance against India, or if off-field distractions prove too heavy a burden for the promising opener.
