Trent Boult Reaches a Landmark Record; Makes Virat Kohli his 100th IPL Wicket

Trent Boult is one of the best bowlers in the world currently and wherever he has played across the world for whichever team, he finds a way to make an impact. In the IPL too, he has been one of the marquee overseas bowler and has now crossed the 100th wicket landmark in IPL as well.
His 100th wicket was a special one too as he got rid of Virat Kohli in the very first delivery of RCB-RR game send Kohli packing for a golden duck. It was a typical Boult dismissal with the new ball as he bowled a booming in-swinger to plumb Kohli in front. He eventually got another wicket in his next over and once again has rocked the opposition in his opening spell.
Overall, Boult has taken 47 out of his 101 IPL wickets at the time of writing in the first six overs and 21 of those have come in the very first over.
Overall, Trent Boult is the 22nd player in the history of the IPL to take 100 or more wickets. He has played for a variety of franchises in the IPL, starting with SRH then KKR, and Delhi Capitals. However, it was with the Mumbai Indians in the 2020 and 2021 editions that Trent Boult really came into his own and picked up 25 and 13 wickets, respectively.
He is currently playing for Rajasthan Royals and had a fruitful 2022 season with RR franchise, picking 16 wickets and playing a big role in RR’s march towards the final of the season. At the time of writing, he has taken 9 wickets in 6 matches and has been at his lethal best with the new ball.
