Travis Head tested positive for COVID-19 after feeling ill at the end of the first Test of the West Indies series in Adelaide. Now, as things stand, even if the star all-rounder is allowed to play the second and final Test, taking place at The Gabba in Brisbane, he must follow isolation protocols.

Cricket Australia (CA) has already confirmed to the Sydney Morning Herald that Head, who needs more time to heal, will not be arriving in Brisbane until Tuesday morning.

Following the Adelaide Test, in which Head won the match award for a crucial century that gave Australia a handsome 10-wicket victory on a testing surface, he became ill with COVID-19.

While the Australian team was scheduled to reconvene in Brisbane on Monday to prepare for Thursday's day/night Test, Head will remain at home, hoping to test negative by then.

Head will be allowed to practice and compete under isolation protocols, though, if his tests remain positive for the virus. These protocols were put in place when Matt Renshaw, another member of the Australian squad, found out he had COVID-19 shortly before the start of the SCG Test against South Africa last year.

Head was India’s nightmare in both the finals of the World Cup and World Championship (WTC) last year, in which Australia handed heartbreaking defeats to Rohit Sharma and his boys.
