TNPL 2022 | Tushar Raheja's fiery knock helps IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans stiffle Ruby Trichy Warriors

IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, on Monday (June 27), hammered Ruby Trichy Warriors by four wickets at the Indian Cement Company Ground, Tirunelveli, to make a victorious start to their Tamil Nadu Premier League 2022 campaign. 

M Mohammed and Tushar Raheja starred with the bat as ITT chased down the target of 157 runs with 7 balls to spare and 4 wickets in hand to register their first victory of the season. 

Chasing the target of 158, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans suffered an early blow as they lost both of their openers – S Siddharth (7 off 5) and Srikkanth Anirudha (9 off 5) cheaply in the second over. 

Subramanian Anand (26-ball 35) then allied with Maan K Bafna (28-ball 26) to stitch a 61-run partnership off 52 balls for the third wicket. Although the duo was dismissed in the successive overs, the foundation for the chase was laid successfully by them. 

The wicket-keeper batter Tushar Raheja and M Mohammed then joined hands and carried the innings forward, with the duo sharing a match-winning partnership of 60 runs off just 32 balls. While Raheja played a quick knock of unbeaten 42 off 26 balls, M Mohammed hammered 29 runs off 15 deliveries and remained unbeaten. 

For Ruby Trichy Warriors, P Saravan Kumar bagged 3 wicket haul but went on to leak 44 runs in his 3.5 overs. M Mathivanan scalped 2 wickets in his quota of 4 overs. 

Earlier, Ruby Trichy Warriors, after putting to bat first, got off to a decent start with their openers V Amith Sathvik (26 off 21) and Murali Vijay (34 off 16) sharing a 57-run stand for the first wicket. 

However, post their dismissals, the RTW innings did not move smoothly as quick dismissals of N S Rajagopal (2), and Adithya Ganesh (15) followed. M Adnan Khan and Antony Dhas couldn't contribute much either as both of them scored 13 runs off 13 deliveries. 

Finally, an unbeaten 17 off 20 balls from P Saravan Kumar and M Mathivanan's 18-ball 27* helped Ruby Trichy Warriors post a respectable total of 157 for the loss of 6 wickets at the end of 20 overs. 

Aswin Crist, who bagged two wickets, was the pick of the bowlers for IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, and he was aided well by Mohan Prasath, M Mohammed, and L Sathiyannaarayan who claimed a wicket each.
