India's all-rounder, Axar Patel, is best described as the underrated gem of the Indian cricket team, especially in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

Following his much-needed and valiant 72-run partnership with Virat Kohli in the crucial final game of the tournament against South Africa, Ravichandran Ashwin praised his outstanding knock, so much so that he said his performance could be trophy-defining.

Axar Patel scored crucial 47 runs off 31 balls including one boundary and three maximums at an excellent strike rate of 151.61.

Here's what he Ashwin wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, "Axar Patel mama! Hold your head up, this could be trophy defining👌👌."

Patel's heroics helped India navigate through a very tough patch in the game along with King Kohli. When Axar walked in India was at 34/3, having lost their key players in the powerplay and his big stand with Virat re-wrote the fate.

Unfortunately in the 14th over, a slight miscommunication between the batters led to Axar being sent back without his well-deserving fifty.

However, as the game followed India managed to put up a fair total of 177 for Aiden Markram and Co.
