Senior Sports journalist Vikrant Gupta has made a startling revelation on the Youtube channel Sports Tak regarding the treatment meted out to the net bowlers by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR).

According to a video published on the YouTube channel, Gupta alleged that the net bowlers at the Royals were subjected to extremely poor treatment.

He alleged that the net bowlers weren't allowed to stay in the hotel with the rest of the team, and they were paid a mere INR 50,000 (approximately USD 600) for two months of gruelling work.

Gupta also revealed that in stark contrast to Rajasthan, the Royal Challengers Bangalore paid INR 9 Lakhs (approx USD 11000) as remuneration to its net bowlers for their services in the 2023 edition of the cash-rich league.

Here's what Vikrant Gupta said on Sports Tak:

"Rajasthan Royals' net bowlers weren't allowed to stay in the team hotel. Instead, they were made to stay in academy rooms. The Royal Challengers Bangalore gives INR 1.5 Lakhs to its net bowlers, while at Rajasthan Royals, they were paid a mere INR 50,000 for 1.5 months of work."

For the uninitiated, the Sanju Samson-led Royals had roped in net bowlers in the form of Rajneesh Gurbani, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Anoop, Karthik, Shubham Yadav, Wihan Lubbe and Evan Jones.

The Royals failed to make it to the playoffs this year as they faltered at the back end of the season to finish at the fifth spot.

The Royals' management is yet to respond to the allegations.
