Southern Brave (SB) clinched their fifth successive victory in the Women's Hundred 2022 by ten wickets against Trent Rockets (TR) on Thursday (25 August) at the Rose Bowl, Southampton.

Lauren Bell restricts Rockets to a below-par score

Invited to bat first, the Rockets lost their in-form batter, Bryony Smith to Lauren Bell in the first over.

As it looked like Elyse Villani and Marie Kelly were gradually building a stand, Bell dismissed the latter for 22 off 15. Then, skipper Sciver (19) and Villani (25) were dismissed by Amanda Wellington to open the floodgates for Brave.

In the end, Rockets could accumulate only 88 runs, with Bell finishing with staggering figures of 4/10 in her designated quota of 20 balls.

Brave openers seal an easy chase

Brave had their in-form openers Smriti Mandhana and Danielle Wyatt to finish off the chase in a quick time, and boost their net run-rate.

The duo displayed their ability to pierce the gaps in the powerplay overs, while upping the ante as the fielding restrictions eased.

Mandhana finished off the game in a grand fashion with a six, with 44 balls to spare.  She remained unbeaten on 57 off 31, with nine fours and two maximums. Wyatt hit 36* off 25 balls, laced with seven fours.

Brave maintained their pole position in the points table with five wins in as many appearances.

Brief Scores:

Lauren Bell 4/10

Southern Brave - 94/0 (56b)
