Rovman Powell against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (Twitter)
The Jamaica Tallawahs will take on the Saint Lucia Kings in match number seven of the ongoing 6IXTY men’s competition.
The Tallawahs, under Rovman Powell, trashed St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 55 runs to win their first game of the season. Notably, they scored 139 in the contest, even though four of their batters contributed with just single-digit scores in the innings.
Captain Powell himself clubbed a 13-ball 32, while Fabian Allen struck 45 off just 18 deliveries. Three of their bowlers claimed two wickets each in the latter half of the match as collective team efforts earned them their opening points of the season.
The Saint Lucia Kings, on the other hand, narrowly lost their opening game to Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Mark Deyal-led side also lost their next match-up, this time to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by three wickets and 24 balls to spare.
The Kings are pretty much out of the playoffs’ contention race. Even a win against the Tallawahs will not guarantee anything as they will also have to wait out other results in the competition.
