The Sydney Thunder have announced the signing of Alex Ross for two more years, enabling him to stay on until 2024 in the Big Bash League (BBL). Ross currently playing for Reigate in the Surrey Premier League has already played three seasons with the Sydney-based club.

In 33 BBL matches for the Thunder, Ross has scored 735 runs, which includes five fifties since BBL 09.  The Victorian had a stellar last edition, scoring 237 runs at a strike rate of 138.60, which included three half-centuries and three not-outs.

The middle-order batter has also played for the Adelaide Strikers (BBL 01 and 02) and the Brisbane Heat (BBL 06, 07, and 08).

"I re-signed because I love playing at the Thunder. The fans, the Thunder Nation, are the best and our connection to the community is second to none. I also really love the team we have built and the teammates I play with. We are building something really nice. That started with (former coach) Shane Bond. We know how we all play, and we are now pretty keen to go and win something,"- Ross said in club's statement

Thunder squad updates ahead of BBL 12

Earlier in the week, the Thunder announced the signing of David Warner on a two-year deal. Warner will, however, only be available for five matches due to international commitments with the Australian national side.

The club has already signed the likes of Jason Sangha, Ollie Davies, Matt Gilkes, and Baxter Holt.

Coached by former England coach Trevor Bayliss, the club will hope to retain their stars Sam Billings, Alex Hales, and Mohammad Hasnain in the upcoming BBL overseas draft on Sunday.
