In an unfortunate incident, a cricket match at the Kausar Cricket Ground in Pakistan witnessed an abrupt end, with a deadly explosion leaving one dead and several people injured. According to the district police, the barbaric act was organised by militants in response to the cops' recent counterterrorism operation in the region.

Cowardly Terror Attack Causes Fatality In Pakistan Cricket Ground

It's worth mentioning that the Pakistan army has carried out several counterterrorism strikes under Operation Sarbakaf in recent times. Such a military operation was executed by the security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last month, which apparently agitated the active militant group in the region.

Reacting to the Operation Sarbakaf, the terrorists, on Saturday, launched a surprise attack in the Kausar Cricket Ground in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The deadly blast caused one fatality, while leaving several others injured.

Bajaur district police confirmed that it was a targeted attack by the terrorists on the civilians to create panic and disrupt peace in the region. Having said that, according to a TOI report, the cops didn't disclose the name of the terrorist organisation responsible for the attack.

Impact Of Terrorist Attacks On Pakistan Cricket

Pakistan, a country known for producing cricketing greats, was banned from hosting international matches after a group of militants attacked the Sri Lankan team bus during the 2009 series. Despite the security forces' sincere attempts, several terror bases are still active in the South-Asian nation.

Recently, Pakistan's bilateral cricketing ties with arch-rivals, India, worsened further, with the Indian Government launching Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The armed conflict between India and Pakistan along the LOC prompted the Indian Government to maintain its stance, dismissing the possibility of bilateral series against the neighbouring nation in the near future.

However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has clarified that India will play against Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup, despite calls from Indian fans to boycott the encounter.
