There’s some good news for Bangladesh cricket fans. Star fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam are close to making a comeback ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh Pace Trio Back In Training After Injuries
A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official confirmed Cricbuzz on June 21 that the three pacers have started training again and will take part in two practice matches in Chattogram on June 23 and 25. These matches will help decide whether they’re fit enough to play in the upcoming games.
All three were out of action recently due to injuries. Mustafizur hurt his thumb while playing in the IPL 2025 and had to miss the T20 series against Pakistan. Taskin has been dealing with an ankle injury, while Shoriful missed the last T20I against Pakistan because of a muscle strain.
Fitness Still Under Observation Ahead Of White-Ball Series
Right now, the medical team says they are bowling at full speed in training without any complaints. But they haven’t been officially cleared yet for the matches in Sri Lanka. Their final fitness will be judged after the practice games.
"Yes they have bowled in full pace but at the same time we need to understand that they are returning from injuries and so we need to see their fitness level as far as playing matches are concerned," a medical official told Cricbuzz.
"We can only say about their availability for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka following the two practice games but at the moment they did not have any complaint after bowling with full intensity," he added.
The Bangladesh team will play a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka on July 2, 5, and 8. The first two ODIs will be held in Colombo, and the last one in Pallekele.
After that, the teams will play three T20I matches on July 10, 13, and 16 in Pallekele, Dambulla, and Colombo.
