Rishabh Pant continued his brilliant form in the ongoing first Test between India and England at Headingley, Leeds. Resuming Day 2 on 65* alongside skipper Shubman Gill, who was unbeaten on 27*, Pant displayed immense composure and determination in the morning session. 

His patient yet aggressive approach paid off as he notched up his seventh Test century and first against England.

Notably, with this stunning knock, the 27-year-old batter broke a major record held by Indian legend MS Dhoni. Pant now holds the record for the most Test centuries scored by a wicketkeeper, surpassing Dhoni’s tally and marking a historic milestone in his red-ball career.

The landmark moment came during the 100th over of India’s innings when Shoaib Bashir was brought into the attack. On the very first ball, Rishabh Pant didn’t hold back, stepping down the track and launching a massive one-handed six over mid-wicket to bring up his third Test hundred in style, off just 146 balls.

The crowd erupted as Pant removed his helmet and celebrated with a trademark somersault, soaking in the applause. It was a full delivery on the stumps, and though Pant wasn’t quite to the pitch of the ball, he still went through with the stroke, using just one hand to send it sailing deep into the stands.

It was a moment that captured Pant’s fearless flair and dominance. The Headingley crowd gave him a roaring standing ovation, well deserved for the Indian vice-captain.
