Veteran Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has called time on his international T20 career with immediate effect
Tamim confirmed the development via his official Facebook account hours after leading his country to a 3-0 ODI series win against the West Indies.
He wrote:
"Consider me retired from T-20 international from today"
Tamim last represented Bangladesh in a T20I against Zimbabwe back in March 2020.
The champion batsman shocked everyone last year when he decided to pull out of the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) tried to seek clarity from Tamim regarding his T20I ambitions in the future. However, Tamim had requested some time to make his final call.
He eventually cleared the doubts surrounding his T20I career on Saturday night after leading his side to a comprehensive 3-0 whitewash in the Caribbean.

Tamim Iqbal is the lone centurion for Bangladesh in all three formats
Having made his debut as a 17-year-old fearless batsman, Tamim swiftly established himself as one of the pillars of Bangladesh batting.
The stylish southpaw represented his country in 78 T20Is with distinction, scoring 1758 runs at an average of 24.08 and a strike rate of 117.20.
Iqbal is the all-time third-highest scorer for Bangladesh in this format; only Mahmudullah (2042 in 110 innings) and Shakib Al Hasan (2010 in 97 innings) have scored more.
Besides, he is the only Bangladeshi batter to hammer a hundred in this format. The 33-year-old achieved the coveted feat against Oman in the 2016 T20 World Cup.
