George Hill, Finlay Bean and Ben Cliff extend their stay at Yorkshire

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club on Friday (July 15) signed three youngsters George Hill, Finlay Bean, and Ben Cliff on new deals.

The club confirmed that the three youngsters have committed their future to the club.

Batting all-rounder George Hill made his senior debut in the Bob Willis Trophy 2020 and has established himself as a regular member of the Yorkshire red-ball team, scoring 788 runs at an average of 32.82 – including two centuries this season in 17 games. Hill is also a handy seamer and has claimed 24 wickets in all formats so far in his career.

Out of the three players, only Hill has signed a three-year contract extension keeping him at Headingley until at least October 2025. Bean and Cliff on the other hand have been roped in until October 2023.

Fast bowler Ben Cliff has impressed for the second XI, picking up nine wickets in the Second XI Championship and six T20 wickets. He was included in Yorkshire's squad to face Surrey at Scarborough but wasn't selected.

Opening batter Finlay Bean has returned to the Yorkshire set-up on the back of some great performances for York in league cricket. He scored 441 against Nottinghamshire in the 2nd XI Championship in a four-day game.

Talented Trio Commit Futures to Yorkshire

Yorkshire’s Interim Managing Director of Cricket Darren Gough said: “We are delighted that all three players have put pen to paper on contracts with the Club. They are very talented young players, and we see them as a major part of our future.

“George Hill has shown his quality this year opening the batting in the Championship and has probably exceeded many people’s expectations having already scored two hundreds.

“Ben Cliff is a tall seamer who has shown what he is about this year in the second team. He’s got a yard of pace and I’m sure he will only get quicker.

“Finlay Bean’s return to the Club is well publicised on the back of his remarkable 441 for the seconds a few weeks ago."
