T20I World Cup 2022: Steve Harmison picks his favourite teams to clinch title

The marquee ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia is just 11 days away, with 16 teams battling it out to gain global dominance. The eighth edition of the T20 World will be played across seven cities — Geelong, Hobart, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide, with hosts Australia defending their crown.

Several former players have termed India and England as finalists, apart from the home side. However, former England paceman Stephen Harmison believes that there are as many as five teams, who could give each other a run for their money.

"I can see England and Australia troubling India at the World Cup. T20s are about somebody producing a moment of brilliance and I don’t think India are necessarily favourites or playing the best cricket.

One player can change everything on any day, which is what T20 is all about, and England, Australia, Pakistan and New Zealand have match-winners as well as India."

According to Metro.co.uk, Harmison maintained that India could reach the semi-finals if former India skipper Virat Kohli fires, and are not outright winners for the competition.

Contrary to popular opinion, India, touted as one of the finalists in the last 2021 edition were eliminated from the competition in the Super 12 round itself.
