Sri Lanka are all set to face New Zealand in their next Super 12 match. The team has showed its intent to go big when it comes to batting. In their last match against Australia in Perth, Sri Lanka only managed to score a low 157/6. Having learnt from their mistake, the Lankans are aiming towards raking risks if it means scoring a big total.

The New Zealand game will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the team is ready to take the advantage that the ground offers.

Coach Naveed Nawaz on Sri Lanka's approach

“If it's a good batting wicket and a fast outfield, obviously the runs are there for the taking, we need to go with a different game plan on a pitch like this."

“Sydney is a very favourable venue for Sri Lanka. It has been throughout the years.”

“If you look at all the games that we played, the top order has batted through, and there were very few overs at the end for the late order and the middle order, we need them to come out with their hands up at the right moment.

When it comes to Sri Lanka's batting, Kusal Mendis has been in phenomenal form. He is currently the top run-scorer in the T20 World Cup. Alongside Pathum Nissanka, the Lankan opening pair is doing incredibly well. Meanwhile, middle-order batters Wanindu Hasaranga and Dasun Shanaka although brilliant in their craft have been dismissed cheaply in the past fixtures.
