T20 WC Qualifiers: Netherlands recall Stephan Myburgh, Brandon Glover in 15-member squad

Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers, the Netherlands have recalled veterans Stephan Myburgh and Brandon Glover in the Scott Edwards-led side, who will travel to Zimbabwe with a strong 15-member squad.

The Netherlands will be placed in Group B along with Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda, for the T20 World Cup 2022 Qualifiers slated to begin on July 11.

Other players making a comeback are Fred Klaassen and Paul van Meekeren, who have had impressive runs with county side Kent and Gloucestershire, respectively.

Glover was the leading wicket-taker for the Dutch side in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Qualifiers held in Dubai, where they were eventual winners.

Myburgh, who announced his ODI retirement during the New Zealand tour last year, continues to do well in domestic cricket. However, he faces stiff competition from Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd.

Another player finding his way back into the T20 format is Tom Cooper, who last featured in India's ICC T20 World Cup 2016. Cooper will add much-needed experience to the batting line-up after the retirement of Pieter Seelaar.

Spinning duties will be headed by youngsters Philippe Boissevain, Shariz Ahmad, Tim Pringle, and Aryan Dutt. In addition, they have opted for three fast bowling all-rounders in Bas de Leede, Logan van Beek and Teja Nidamanuru.

The side will play warm-up games against USA and Zimbabwe select XI in Harare before flying to Bulawayo, where they take on Papua New Guinea in the opening Group B encounter at Queen's Club.

With no break in between, they will clash against Hong Kong on July 12 while meeting Uganda on July 14 for their final group game.
