Suryakumar Yadav urged his young troops to keep the accelerator mode on and continue playing "fearless" and aggressive cricket in the three-match T20I series against South Africa.

The stand-in India skipper encouraged the fresh-looking squad to retain their best approach in the middle after showcasing an enterprising brand of cricket during the recent 4-1 home series win versus Australia.

The extravagant middle-order giant also reckons the build-up towards the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean & USA next June will help the players in the senior set-up to mentally overcome the lingering disappointment of losing the ICC World Cup 2023 final, a loss that continues to hurt the fans and the nation.

Suryakumar Yadav Geared Up For South Africa Series

"The World Cup defeat was a disappointment, and it is tough to move on from it. But the series win against Australia was a big boost even though it came in a different format," the skipper said during the pre-series media interaction.

India had rested as many as 13 members of the World Cup squad for the Australia T20Is, of which eight still remain absent for the series versus Proteas, making it a young squad under transition and striving to claim key spots ahead of the next T20 World Cup.

"The players put their hands up against Australia and came up with fearless cricket, and we need to play the same against South Africa. I just told them (players) to do exactly what they do in franchise cricket," Suryakumar said.

The Mumbikar also spoke on his captaincy in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma and his deputy Hardik Pandya and said the team is mindful of the balance issues and the sixth-bowler's problem.

"I am enjoying it (captaincy). It is all about keeping the players together and this is a fine group of players."
