Virat Kohli, who recently completed 15 years in international cricket, is one of the most loved athletes in India and around the world. Ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup which gets underway in October, a Surat based businessman has decided to gift a diamond embellished bat to Kohli.

The diamond bat was made with 1.04 carat original rough diamond. It took a month's time and labour to design the bat. Worth around Rs 10 lakh, the width of the willow is between 5mm to 15mm. The production of the bat was overseen by Utpal Mistry, a Diamond Technology expert.

"A top cricketer of the country was to be gifted a natural diamond bat. It is very difficult without a machine to tell the difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond when it is prepared. You won't be able to tell by looking at it with your eyes.

Now the diamond trader, who wanted to gift the diamond bat to the big cricketer, said that it should be known only by seeing that it is a natural diamond and not a lab-grown diamond," Utpal Mistry told India Today.

"The bat is worth around INR 10 lakhs and the size is 15mm to 5mm, so we thought That the skin of a natural diamond which is made by God does not exactly match the screen of a lab-grown diamond. So we had the idea and we kept the skin of a rough diamond till polished. This was a very clear instruction because it was going to be a top Indian cricketer. He wanted to gift a natural diamond and not a lab-grown diamond," he added.

Kohli, who will play his fourth ODI World Cup, will be a key player for the Indian side, if they are to lift their third 50-over title. The 2023 ODI World Cup will begin on 5 October and run until 19 November.

The much awaited India-Pakistan clash will take place on October 14.
