Indian Premier League often witnesses teams combating against each other twice. While the primary contest is played on the field, another one is fought off it especially between respective social media handles of both the teams.

The second battle isn’t restricted to a particular time period. In simple words, it could be played both before and after the primary contest. The latest instance of the same was put on display by Royal Challengers Bengaluru after a convincing 7-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in Mullanpur.

RCB Mock PBKS On X

It was over two years ago when former Royal Challengers captain Virat Kohli shook a leg with Norwegian dance group ‘Quick Style’ as part of a viral collaboration. In order to take a dig at Kohli, social media influencers working with Kings had created a parody of that video earlier this season.

With Kohli guiding his team to a victory in an away match less than 48 hours after losing a home match against the same opposition, it was Bengaluru’s turn to give it back on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Every masterpiece has a copy. Stick to the original. Enjoy,” read the caption of RCB’s mocking post.

Such instances of casual trolling are common among social media handles of IPL franchises nowadays. Without any objectional confrontation, even Kohli was seen engaging a lot with Punjab’s players at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Sunday evening.

As far as the match is concerned, Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal’s 69-ball 103-run second-wicket partnership played a key role in the visitors chasing down a 158-run target.

Kohli, who scored 73* (54) with the help of seven fours and a six, completed his 67th IPL half-century to break David Warner’s record of most IPL half-centuries. In the process, ended up winning his 19th match award in the tournament.
