Steve Smith, the Australian batter has revealed his retirement plans, stating that he is not ready to hang his boots just yet.

Smith, considered the best Test batter of his generation, has gone through a lean patch after he was promoted at the top of the order after David Warner's retirement.

However, things have not gone according to the plan, as he has failed to register a single score in excess of 100, and averages less than 30, while opening the innings.

Smith in no mood to retire, just yet!

Despite the recent failures, Smith is determined to prove his doubters wrong as he gears up for the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar series against the touring Indian team. Both India and Australia have a fierce rivalry, and Smith acknowledges that.

"I don't have any retirement plans. I'm looking forward to the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India is going to be a great challenge, they're a very good side. We're the two best Test teams in the world," Smith stated.

The last couple of BGT has been dominated by India. They have won the last 4 series Vs Australia, and will be looking to make a hat-trick of series wins in Australia, when the tour commences in November 2024.

Smith will be relishing the Indian challenge. The former Aussie Test skipper has a stellar record against India, amassing 2042 runs in 19 Tests, at an average of 65.87, including 9 centuries.
