As the first T20I is set to take place at Cuttack’ Barabati Stadium, fans went crazy.
Ticket mania hits Cuttack as 10,000 tickets for the first T20I go on sale today at offline counters. As the original distribution was scheduled at 6 AM, fans gathered on the roads since 11:30 PM last night just to grab the tickets. Adding to this, a person will be allowed to grab only 2 tickets.
The massive crowd interrupted the security protocols as the police let the people enter the barricade to tackle the situation. Tensions rose as excited fans surged toward the Directorate of Industries to grab their tickets. Police stepped in, temporarily redirecting the crowd toward the CDMO office and Cantonment Square to control the rush.
Despite the arrangements, the massive crowd created a bizarre situation at the Barabati Stadium. Though the crowd management was ensured, fans were seen rushing for tickets, creating a stampede-like situation. Just days before the India vs South Africa T20I, the atmosphere turned into complete pandemonium.
Security is on high alert to stop ticket black marketing
The entire Cuttack is witnessing is fans’ madness for the upcoming match, and the security is on high alert to prevent the black marketing of the tickets. With 300 CCTV cameras, they are set to prevent any uncanny incident. Among those, 64 cameras are firmly focusing on the counters and barricaded areas, and the control room of the OCA is keeping an eye on the entire situation.
After a few times, cricket is returning to the Barabati Stadium, and fans can’t be happier. As both sides are all set for a thrilling five-match T20I series, the first match will be played in Cuttack on December 9. Fans are waiting for a thrilling cricketing spectacle.
