India star opener Smriti Mandhana has climbed back to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, overtaking England ace all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt. With this, Mandhana has once again established herself as the best ODI batter in the world.
The latest update to the rankings on Tuesday came after Mandhana’s impressive knock in the opening ODI against Australia at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium on September 14.
The 29-year-old scored a quick 58 runs off 63 balls, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes at the top of the order. This innings earned her seven more rating points, taking her total to 735, four points clear of Sciver-Brunt.
Smriti Mandhana Reclaims No. 1
This is not the first time Mandhana has reached the Number 1 spot. She first achieved the milestone in 2019 and briefly held the top position earlier this year in June and July.
Now, with her consistent form, she has reclaimed the ranking at a crucial time, just two weeks before the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, starting on September 30 in India and Sri lanka. Notably, this is the fourth occasion that she has claimed the top spot in the ICC Women's ODI Batting Rankings.
Mandhana’s rise isn’t the only positive news for Indian cricket. Her teammates Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol also moved up in the batting rankings, climbing to 42nd and 43rd place respectively.
