Seems like the Mumbai domestic side has given the perfect birthday gift to Prithvi Shaw by selecting him in the squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. The selection panel have included 28-probable names for the forthcoming mega event.
Apart from Shaw, the other big names in the squad include - Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane, and it is widely expected that Rahane will lead the Mumbai side in SMAT 2024. Shaw last played a T20 match during the IPL 2024, and since then he has played in England, representing Northamptonshire in their One-Day Cup and County Championship.
After the first two Ranji Trophy matches, Shaw was dropped from the side due to fitness and weight issues. With almost all the big names present, the omission of star all-rounder, Tanush Kotian comes in as a surprise.
The players named in the probable squad have been asked to report at the MCA Academy on Saturday, November 9 as the squad looks to develop game plans.
