As SLC Greens and SLC Greys crossed swords, it rather panned out as a no-contest with the mismatching performances of the two sides ultimately making the fixture a one-sided affair in the favour of the latter.

The troika of Thanuka Dabare, Muditha Lakshan and Pulina Tharanga shone as bright as stars. While Dabare's whirlwind 40-ball 66 catapulted the Greens in the first innings, Lakshan and Tharanga's respective three-fors were the main reason behind the opposition's miseries in the latter half.

Spin to win - Grey's masterplan

Out of the 15.5 overs that were enough for the Greens to all-out, 10.5 were bowled by the spinners. As Dasun Shanaka and Co. were bamboozled at the score of 85, Lakshan and Tharanga, who dished out miraculous spells, had to be given a fair share of credit for this.

Both the tweakers brought the Greens' vulnerability to the fore, claiming three-wicket hauls as the opposition were forced to bite the dirt.

Although most of the batters failed to sustain long enough to build up their innings, Niroshan Dickwella and Dinesh Chandimal touched the 20s, but were eventually found wanting.

In an easy victory for the Greys, they bundled out the Greens for 85 runs in the 16th over, handing them a 81-run drubbing.

Dabare racks up a half-century

Grey's opener Dabare helped them sit on the right course with his 66-run knock stealing the show in the first innings.

While the coin flipped in the favour of the Greens, they were bested by the likes of Dabare and Kasun Vidura. A 119-run stand for the first wicket was to ease out the situation for the next batters, but the Shanuka-led team made headway as both the openers got dismissed in the span of four deliveries.

As great a collapse that was, the Greys were reduced to 166/7 in their 20 overs. But with all the drama that unfolded after the innings break, it proved to be a mountainous task for the Greens.

While it seems to be the end of the Greens' campaign for this year, the Greys will have to wait till tonight as their qualification is dependent on the clash between SLC Blues and SLC Reds.
