A video circulating on social media showed Shubman Gill and Arshdeep Singh seeking blessings from Abhishek Sharma’s father, Raj Kumar Sharma, after a practice session on Saturday.

Gill Greets Father-Like Figure With Warm Gesture

In the viral clip, shared by ANI, Gill was seen greeting Raj warmly, even touching his feet to seek blessings ahead of the big game. Arshdeep Singh was also present, as the Punjab trio, Gill, Abhishek, and Arshdeep, spent some time together with Raj after practice. 

Shubman Gill’s gesture, followed by a warm hug, struck a chord with fans, many of whom praised the young stars for staying rooted in tradition despite the mounting pressure of the India-Pakistan clash.

Raj Kumar Sharma, who is often spotted in IPL stadiums supporting his son Abhishek, was visibly pleased during the interaction. The trio also engaged in a light-hearted chat, offering a rare glimpse of calm before what promises to be one of the most intense encounters of the Asia Cup 2025.

However, alongside this emotional moment, concerns linger for Team India. Reports suggest that Gill picked up a minor injury during practice, casting doubts over his full fitness ahead of Sunday’s contest. Meanwhile, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate hinted that Arshdeep Singh’s spot in the playing XI remains uncertain due to team balance considerations.

Despite these challenges, the viral video has given fans a reason to smile, portraying the strong bond and humility shared by India’s next-generation cricketers.
