In a significant development, India's star batter Shubman Gill has suffered an injury scare in training. The Men in Blue are set to face Pakistan on September 14 in their second match of the Asia Cup, and a blow to their vice-captain is concerning for team India.
Gill Hit On The Hand In Training
According to a report from The Times of India, Gill was hit on the hand during a practice session, following which he was in immense pain. The physios rushed to check on Gill, who later walked off the ground.
Gill was spotted with an ice-pack on his hand and a panic situation surrounded the training session. However, India's vice-captain for the Asia Cup 2025 soon felt better and returned to the nets. However, the right-handed batter needs to be careful as he didn't feel 100% when he returned to the nets.
Suryakumar Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir quickly rushed to Gill to enquire about his injury. Fortunately for fans, Gill is all fit to feature against Pakistan on September 14.
Shubman Gill A Key For India At The Top
Prior to the start of the tournament, there was a long chatter regarding Gill's place in the team as he had not played a single T20i since July 2024. However, the management went ahead with the right-handed batter at the top of the order ahead of Sanju Samson.
Even, during India's match vs UAE, Gill opened the innings with Abhishek Sharma and looked in great touch. Further, having Gill for Pakistan clash is important for the Men in Blue as the right-handed batter has a great record against the Men in Green.
He has played four games against Pakistan and scored 130 runs, averaging 32.50, which includes a fifty-plus score.
