Indian ace opener, Shubman Gill is set to make his return to the field today, marking what could potentially be his first training session in more than a week. His absence from action began on October 5 during Team India's initial training session in Chennai, as he battled dengue.

Now, after a certain period of recovery, Gill is poised to rejoin the team for practice, rekindling hopes of his swift return to full fitness and participation in upcoming India vs Pakistan clash.

“Gill took the evening flight from Chennai yesterday and reached Ahmedabad last night. He is now likely to hit the ground today and we will then see how the body reacts to physical activity. There is going to be no rush, one step at a time,” a source close to BCCI has revealed.

Shubman Gill Arrives in Ahmedabad

While the rest of the Indian cricket team traveled to Delhi for their 2023 World Cup match against Afghanistan, Shubman Gill took a flight from Chennai to Ahmedabad, opting to stay back in the city to prioritize his ongoing recovery and dengue treatment.

Gill's health had taken a hit, requiring a night's stay in the hospital due to a drop in his platelet count below 1,00,000. However, the precautionary measure proved effective, as he returned to his hotel room and has been steadily improving each day.

The upcoming clash against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14 is a high-profile fixture. While the rest of the team will fly in from Delhi on Thursday, Gill's return date remains uncertain.

His reintegration into the team will largely hinge on how his body responds to the training sessions, making it challenging to pinpoint an exact date for his return to competitive cricket.
