The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially revealed the 15-player squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 on Tuesday (August 19). The announcement was made at a press conference in Mumbai by chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

Team India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, who continues as the regular captain for the T20 format. A few fresh faces have been rewarded for their exceldent performances in the recent IPL season.

No Iyer And Jaiswal In India's 15-Member Squad

Notably, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice-captain of the squad. Even though he has not played T20 internationals for almost a year, his strong performance in the IPL 2025 and his leadership during the Test series against England have earned him a place in the squad.

However, the big surprise is that young talent Yashasvi Jaiswal and experienced batter Shreyas Iyer have not been picked, even though both were strong contenders and have been performing well in T20 cricket.

For the wicketkeeping duties, Sanju Samson has been selected as the main choice, with RCB’s Jitesh Sharma named as the backup.

Jasprit Bumrah Included

In the bowling department, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah makes his return after T20 World Cup final, while Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana have also been included to strengthen the pace attack. The spin department features Kuldeep Yadav along with mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy.

The Asia Cup 2025 is set to kick off on September 9, with India’s first match scheduled against the UAE on September 10.
