Shubman Gill, the deputy of Suryakumar Yadav in Asia Cup 2025 is soaking up all the fun and fervour of teh heat between India and Pakistan ahead of the high voltage clash on September 14. While he scored a 20 off 9 balls against UAE, the opening batter is aiming for a thrilling clash for India's next group stage fixture.

Following India's emphatic win, captain Shubman Gill took to social media with a simple yet telling message, encapsulating the team’s focused approach to the tournament.

Gill Subtly Hints At Pakistan Rivalry

Taking to his official X handle, Shubman Gill shared multiple photos of India's victory against UAE where he himself featured alongside the bowling unit and Abhishek Sharma too. However, the caption to the post was intimidating as he wrote, "Step One."

While the two-word caption is small yet it powerfully underlines the motive of India and Gill in particular for the Asia Cup campaign where the 'Step Two' refers to taking on Pakistan on September 14. After clash with the Men in Green, SKY and Co. will be facing Oman to move on towards the Super Four stage if they bag all the matches they play in the group stage fixtures.

India Dominate UAE In Opener

Speaking of India's performance in their tournament opener, a devastating bowling performance from Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube propelled India to a commanding nine-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates in their Asia Cup 2025 opener in Dubai.

Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep mesmerized with his googlies to claim sensational figures of 4 for 7, while all-rounder Dube complemented him perfectly with 3 for 4, skittling the UAE for a paltry 57 in just 13.1 overs—the lowest T20 total ever recorded against India.

In response, India's chase was swift and clinical, needing only 4.3 overs to reach the target at 60 for 1. Debutant opener Abhishek Sharma announced his arrival on the big stage with a blistering 30 from 16 deliveries, while Shubman Gill provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 20.
