In the final and third ODI match against Zimbabwe, India managed to escape home by 13 runs. Thanks to the scintillating century from Shubman Gill, the Men in Blue dominated the entire series by 3-0.

What came to be his maiden century after getting out in the 90s thrice, Gill overcame his ghosts of the past. Scoring 130 from just 97 deliveries, he took calculative risks to slam 15 fours and a six. Gill scored 82 and 33 in the series' first two games.

His knock helped India set Zimbabwe a target of 290, which in the end proved to be bare enough as a century from Sikandar Raza almost took the game away from them.

The right-hander appreciated his father for motivating him

The 22-year-old, after earning the player of the match, went on to thank his father for teaching him a lesson following getting out cheaply in the previous encounter.

To express his ecstatic feelings, he said,

"My father has been my primary coach. I got schooling after I got out in the second ODI, so I dedicate this to him."

Shubman Gill's decent touch in recent times

Finishing Indian Premier League (IPL) with a six to take his side home, Gill never looked back and has almost booked his place in the ODI setup. With his classy technique and temperament coming in handy, he has justified his talent that first came into reckoning in the 2018 U-19 World Cup.

With excellent back-to-back series against West Indies and Zimbabwe, Gill will be eyeing the spot in the next year's World Cup in India.
