Shreyas Iyer’s golden touch as a captain continues to shine, with the Punjab Kings securing a top-two IPL finish after a commanding victory over the Mumbai Indians on Monday in Jaipur. Fresh off leading Kolkata Knight Riders to the title last season, Iyer has steered Punjab to their third-ever playoff berth, showcasing his knack for clutch performances.

The victory marked Shreyas Iyer’s 49th win as an IPL captain, further cementing his reputation as a tactical leader. During the match, he also crossed 2,500 runs as a skipper in the tournament, joining an elite group.

Additionally, Iyer smashed his 101 six as a captain, becoming only the sixth player to achieve the feat.

Iyer's stellar season includes 500+ runs at a blistering strike rate of 170, making him the second Punjab Kings captain after KL Rahul to surpass the 500-run mark in a single campaign.

Notably, in the match, the skipper fittingly sealed the win with a towering six, capping a dominant chase fueled by Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya, whose 109-run partnership laid the foundation for the triumph.

Punjab Kings, now awaiting their Qualifier 1 opponent following the LSG vs. RCB clash, have clinched a top-two league finish for only the third time in their history. Their previous attempts in 2008 and 2014 fell short of glory, but this squad, under Iyer’s leadership, aims to rewrite history by claiming their maiden title.
