Out of favour Pakistan batter, Shoaib Malik has taken a jibe at his national side after their 23-run defeat in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka on Sunday.

Malik, who was a part of Pakistan's T20 World Cup 2021 squad, hinted at several problems regarding team selection in his cryptic tweet.

Adding fuel to the fire, former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal came up with a quirky response.

Notably, Malik was excluded from the Pakistan squad and asked to play domestic cricket to prove his form and fitness ahead of the marquee event. So, it's pretty understandable why he passed such a remark following Pakistan's defeat.

Chasing 171 to win, Pakistan suffered a batting collapse, with only Mohammad Rizwan anchoring the batting with his 49-ball 55. Their middle-order woes were quite evident and led to their debacle in the tournament.

The Men in Green were horrendous with the bat after the Super four encounter against India. So, several ex-players criticized chief selector Mohammad Wasim's decision to drop an experienced batter like Malik, who served as one of Pakistan's mainstays in the lower middle order.
