Sri Lanka to everyone's surprise, lifted the Asia Cup 2022 trophy, beating Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

The Lankan Lions holed out from 58 for 5 to 170 for 6, courtesy of a match-winning 71*-run knock from Bhanuka Rajapaksa. In reply, only Mohammad Rizwan held the fort for his side, scoring 55 off 49. However, Rizwan's knock drew a lot of flak from former players as well as critics and fans.

Pakistan head coach backs Rizwan

"Every team and player has their own style and method. The way we played, we reached semi-finals of the T20 World Cup last year, we got to the final of an Asia Cup here. Evidence suggests you're doing something right to get here. We'd rather focus on the small things we aren't doing right instead of looking at what others are doing. His method is not bad."

The inventor of 'Doorsa', Mushtaq also lashed out at former players, who came down heavy on Rizwan's approach. As the legendary tweaker put it, the people outside don't understand the complexities of game situation and therefore, they shouldn't be taken seriously.
