One of the finest foreign players to grace Indian soil with his electrifying batting and unmatched stardom, Australia's David Warner has always been a fan favourite among the masses. Having led SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) to their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2016, the opener also holds the record for most half-centuries by a player in the cash-rich league.

Previously playing for Delhi Capitals in the 2024 season, the 38-year-old surprisingly went unsold in the recently concluded mega-auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Warner was released by the Capitals ahead of the major shuffle but found no buyers this time around, as franchises indicated that they have moved on from the veteran.

This means that the left-handed dynamite will most likely remain absent from the IPL next season unless and until he gets called up as an injury replacement. During his IPL career, spanning 15 long years beginning in 2009, Warner has only represented two franchises in the form of DC and SRH.

In the last mega-auction in 2022, David was sold for INR 6.25 Crore to the Capitals after a fallout with his beloved franchise SRH in 2021. He was previously receiving a hefty pay-check of INR 12.50 Crore since the 2019 season when he returned from the ban.

David Warner IPL Stats

The star performer on many occasions in the IPL, the Aussie has featured in 184 games with a total of massive 6,565 runs coming at an average of 40.52 while maintaining the strike rate of close to 140 with as many as four hundreds to his name.

However, the crucial point to notice here is the fifty-plus scores he has amassed in his career, which stands at an unbelievable 66, including his four tons. The second best on the list is Virat Kohli, closing in on him with 63 such scores.

His most remarkable season with the bat was back in 2016 when he smashed 848 runs in 17 matches, putting as many as nine half-centuries after his name, which incidentally was Hyderabad's best-ever edition too.
