Bangladesh has suffered a big blow ahead of their crucial game against South Africa in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, as their pace spearhead, Taskin Ahmed, looks doubtful for the game due to a shoulder injury.

Having not featured in their last match against India in Pune because of shoulder injury, Taskin's recovery remains incomplete, which also saw him missing the training session at the Wankhede Stadium on October 22.

Here’s what a member of the Bangladesh team management told Cricbuzz:

“Let us see what happens today (in the practice session) but he looks doubtful for the next game against South Africa as he is yet to recover fully.”

"Even if we don't get him (Taskin) against South Africa, we are expecting him to be available when we start our campaign in Kolkata [against Netherlands].”

While on the other hand, Bangladesh's captain Shakib Al Hasan, who missed the last fixture against India, appears to be on track for a return in the upcoming game against South Africa. In such a scenario, Nasum Ahmed will likely be relegated to the bench.
