Bangladesh’s controversial cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has joined Atlanta Fire for the 2025 edition of USA’s Minor League Cricket as their international wildcard player. This comes after the all-rounder was banned from travelling by a Bangladesh court.
Shakib’s fallout with the Bangladesh cricket board and involvement in political clashes have resulted in his ouster from his own country. Fearing arrest, he fled Bangladesh and was recently banned from travelling due to fraud cases.
Despite this, Shakib continues to feature in international leagues across the globe, and his next stop is the USA.
Shakib Al Hasan To Stay In USA For Minor Cricket League
In an official announcement, Atlanta Fire confirmed that Shakib Al Hasan will feature in the upcoming 2025 season of Minor League Cricket as an international wildcard player. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 28 to October 2.
The announcement was made on Friday, with Atlanta Fire describing Shakib as nothing less than a "game-changer" in their squad.
"We are thrilled to announce that Shakib Al Hasan, one of the world's premier all-rounders, will be joining the Atlanta Fire Cricket Team as an International Wildcard this 2025 Minor League season! A game-changer with both bat and ball, Shakib brings unmatched experience, skill, and star power to the Fire lineup."
Minor League Cricket is widely viewed as the feeder competition for the bigger and more glamorous Major League Cricket (MLC), which has attracted stars from around the world.
That being said, Shakib is currently playing for the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Apart from the Minor Cricket League, Shakib Al Hasan also played the Global Super League. After getting dropped from the BPL franchise Rangpur Riders over political tensions, Shakib was roped in by the ILT20 team, Dubai Capitals.
Not only that, but the seasoned all-rounder will lead Miami Blaze in the Max 60 Caribbean League 2025. For now, Shakib will avoid travelling to Bangladesh but remains open to a comeback in the near future.
