Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi lashed out at the PCB Chairman and media personnel for leaking a private chat between Babar Azam and a PCB official.

While the authenticity of the original source remains unconfirmed, the chat came to light during a broadcast on 'ARY News,' showing a conversation between Babar Azam and PCB's Chief Operating Officer, Salman Naseer.

The controversy flared up after Rashid Latif, a former Pakistan wicketkeeper, alleged that Zaka Ashraf, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, had been ignoring Babar Azam's calls and text messages.

In response to Latif's accusations, Ashraf refuted any direct communication with Azam. He also brought out a private WhatsApp message from Babar Azam on live TV to prove his point.

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi did not like the way things are coming out and that, too, in the middle of World Cup 2023.

Here’s what Shahid Afridi said:

"Sorry to say, but this is a disgraceful act. You don't do that. You don't defame your own country. You don't defame your own players. How can you leak someone's private messages? That too of our captain, Babar Azam?"

There are speculations that the Pakistan Cricket Board is contemplating a captaincy change post the 2023 World Cup, attributing it to Pakistan's lacklustre performance during the tournament.
