Team India outclassed Pakistan in the final of the 2025 Asia Cup to lift the coveted continental title for the record-extending ninth time. Apart from emerging victorious in the title clash, the ‘Men in Blue’ also defeated Pakistan in the Group Stage and Super Four rounds of the tournament.
Apparently, former Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Yousuf and Shahid Afridi had arranged some grand plans in case Agha Salman’s troops managed to topple India in the summit clash.
Yousuf, Shahid Afridi planned to further Pakistan’s propaganda
In the height of severing cross-border and geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, former Pakistan cricketers and experts Mohammad Yousuf and Shahid Afridi had made plans of spreading the nation’s war propaganda further.
Echoing Pakistan government’s false claim of downing six Indian jets during the ‘Operation Sindoor’, Yousuf and Afridi revealed on Samaa TV that they were planning to dedicate Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025 win to the Pakistan Air Force.
Moreover, Shahid Afridi even claimed that he had personally informed every single player in the Pakistan team to dedicate the win to the Pakistani Air Force, only for their plans to get foiled by the victorious Team India at the Dubai International Stadium.
IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025 final: As it happened
Pakistan crumbled for just 146 in the Asia Cup 2025 final despite racing to 113-1 at one stage. Kuldeep Yadav (4-30), Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah collectively orchestrated Pakistan’s dramatic collapse in the backend of the innings.
In response, Tilak Varma (69* off 53) guided the Indian team past Pakistan’s total in a tense chase with two balls to spare.
During the presentation ceremony, Team India dealt another blow to Pakistan, this time by refusing to accept their winner’s medals and the Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan politician and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi.
