In latest developments, Pakistan has announced their squad for upcoming Pakistan Tour of New Zealand. After a crushing and shocking exit from the group-stage of the on-going ICC Champions Trophy 2025, it was expected that the Men In Green would be making some big changes.
Shaheen And Haris Out
As seen in their ODI squad, Pakistan's premium pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has not been included in the 15-man squad. Another notable exclusion is of star fast-bowler Haris Rauf. Interestingly, both the players were a part of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Rizwan To Lead In ODIs, Babar Included
Although many reports suggested that Mohd Rizwan would not be leading the team, a firm decision has been made with him still leading the Pakistan cricket team in the 50-over format. But Salman Ali Agha is becoming the leader in the T20I side that has been made clear. Apart from this, Babar Azam, who has received criticisms from every nook and corner for his disappointing run in ODIs and overall, has been included in the ODI squad but left out of the T20Is.
Mohammad Ali, Mohd. Wasim Jr, Akif Javed are three new inclusions in the team from the last time Pakistan played ODIs. Moreover, Imam ul-Haq has been included in a bi-lateral series after a very long time.
