As India prepares to lock horns with Sri Lanka in the high-octane Asia Cup final on Sunday, former legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar lauded Kuldeep Yadav for his extraordinary bowling performance that has helped team India register some massive wins.

The left-arm wrist spinner is currently India’s leading wicket-taker in the ongoing tournament so far with 9 wickets to his name whilst maintaining an outstanding economy rate of 3.7 RPO.

In an ongoing interview with India Today, Sunil Gavaskar pointed how how Kuldeep Yadav's uncanny bowling abilities have significantly altered the fortunes of Team India as they approach the business end of the tournament.

“Kuldeep has shown that he can make a difference. Wrist spin, whether it is right-arm of left-arm, can get you wickets. And wickets are the best dot balls in limited-overs cricket. Also, the fact that he is bowling a little flatter, not giving that much air, getting the ball to spin, makes him difficult to play.”

Kuldeep played a pivotal role in India’s massive 228-run victory against their arch-rivals Pakistan where he claimed mind-boggling figures of 5/25 to help India secure one of their biggest wins in ODI cricket. Additionally, he was also seen in action against Sri Lanka in the Super 4 fixture where finished with impressive figures of 4/43 which helped the Men In Blue restrict the Lankans in a low-scoring thriller.

However, the 28-year-old did not feature in the Super Four match against Bangladesh but is expected to return for the final to be played against Sri Lanka on September 17 in Colombo.  As Kuldeep continues to display his dazzling form with the ball, all eyes will be on him as well as Dunith Wellalage who tormented the formidable Indian batting line up with his immaculate guile and spin in the preceding Super 4 fixture.
