Sehwag and Gambhir to captain teams in Legends League Cricket

Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, who have stitched many memorable partnerships for India in the past will be facing off against each other in the second edition of Legends League Cricket. While Gambhir will be leading GMR Sportsline's India Capitals, Sehwag will be the skipper of the Adani owned Gujarat Giants. The tournament will kick off from 15th September onwards. 

The inaugural edition of the Legends League cricket was won by the World Giants in January 2022. The tournament was played in Al-Amerat. The second edition will be played across six different cities in India. The league, which will be a sixteen match affair will be played across five venues- Kolkata, New Delhi, Lucknow, Cuttack and Jodhpur. The venues for the play offs and the final are yet to be decided. 


"Excited to get back on cricket ground again" - Sehwag 

Virender Sehwag, who has played many aggressive innings in the past for India, said that he was excited to be back on the playing field again.

"I am excited to get back to the cricket ground again. Having Adani Group as Team Principal and a professional outfit like Gujarat Giants is a perfect way to kick start this cricketing innings once again. I have personally always believed in playing fearless cricket and I will continue to propagate the same brand of cricket here too. We are extremely excited and eagerly waiting for the draft to pick our team," said Virender Sehwag.

Meanwhile, his opening partner in the past Gautam Gambhir, who was one of the key reasons behind India's victory in the 2011 World Cup was equally excited as well.

"I have always believed Cricket is a team game and a Captain is as good as his team. While I will be leading the India Capitals team, I will be pushing for a spirited team who are passionate and eager to go out and win as a team. I wish Legends League Cricket all the very best and am looking forward to the upcoming action," Gambhir said.
