Sarah Glenn claims 2nd spot in the ICC women's T20I rankings for bowlers

England leg-spinner Sarah Glenn reached her career-best 2nd spot in ICC women's T20I rankings for bowlers following her match-winning spell against India in the 1st T20I at Chester-le-Street last Saturday.

Glenn registered her career-best figures of 4/23 in her four-over spell, which included the prized scalps of Shafali Verma and India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

Her spell ensured that England restricted the Indian eves for a mere 132/7 in 20 overs. The total was easily chased down by the host batters, with opener Sophia Dunkley smashing an unbeaten 44-ball 61.

England breached the target with 7 overs and 9 wickets still in their kitty to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

As a result, Glenn has now overtaken seamer Katherine Brunt and her teammate and the No.1 ranked T20I bowler, Sophie Ecclestone, remains the only one to be ahead of him.

Apart from Glenn, the half-centurion from the last game, Sophia Dunkley, has risen 13 places to claim the 44th position while Alice Capsey, who scored a quickfire 32, has also advanced 12 places to claim the 52nd spot in the ICC women's T20I rankings for batters.

Can India stage a comeback in the 2nd T20I?

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will need to pull their socks up if they want to stay afloat in the three-match series following a dreadful performance in the tour opener.

It was quite a depressing performance from the Women in Blue in the first game as the batters kept throwing their wickets away, fielders couldn't stop the ball while the bowling-unit- especially the spinners- couldn't quite control the wet ball.

India have not won a single T20I series in the last two years, and on Tuesday, they will need to play out of their skins if they want to enforce a series decider.
