Indian swashbuckler batter Rahul Tripathi is confident that his time in the national side will definitely come and he is only focused on nailing down every opportunity as and when it arrives.

Tripathi earned a call-up to the T20I set-up during the Ireland series back in June following a blockbuster IPL season with the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In 14 innings, he hammered 413 runs @ 37.55/158.24 with three 50-plus scores.

He was also picked for the one-day international series against Zimbabwe last month, but just like Ireland T20Is, the right-hander did not find a place in the starting XI.

However, Rahul is not bothered one bit. In fact, he is relieved that he has at least forced his way into contention.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Rahul Tripathi said:

"No, it’s not like that. I am happy that at least I have come into the scheme of things. And obviously, there are players who have been performing consistently,"

"But I think my opportunity will definitely come, and my job is to keep performing in whatever opportunities I get. Definitely, when you get selected, you aim and dream to play for India, and hopefully it’ll happen soon."

Rahul Tripathi: A T20 dynamo waiting in the wings

Rahul Tripathi has been one of the most prolific uncapped Indian batters in the cash-rich IPL for a number of years.

Bathed with intent, and a 360-degree strokeplay, Tripathi is one of the few batters in the country who can bat at any position.

He has been equally prolific as a finisher and, of course, at his favoured position in the top-order.

With the T20I team set to go through a transition following the World Cup in Australia later this year, a number of vacancies are likely to open up, and it will be interesting to see if Rahul can grab one of the spots or not.
