In a significant development, Rajasthan Royals' regular skipper Sanju Samson has headed back to BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where he is undergoing fitness tests for his injured finger. It is worth noting that before the start of IPL 2025, Samson had fractured his finger and headed to the NCA for recovery.

Sanju Samson Reports To The NCA

He received a green-light from the doctors but was asked to play just as a batter and not keep wickets as it would be dangerous for his fingers. Following the orders, Samson played as an impact sub for the first three matches and also handed the captaincy band to Riyan Parag.

Meanwhile, in the latest events, according to reports from Gaurav Gupta of Times of India, Samson is back at the NCA to undergo final fitness tests and get a green-light from the doctors to keep-wickets and return as RR's captain for the remainder of the season.

Samson Eyes April 5 As Return Date

It is worth noting that Rajasthan Royals have got off to a disastrous start to the tournament as they were winless in the first two matches. However, they opened the account against CSK but that too was close as the Men in Pink won the match by 6 runs.

Now RR will face Punjab Kings on April 5 at the Mullunpur Stadium and Samson is eyeing to get a green light from the doctors before that match to return as a captain against PBKS.

Further, Samson has got off to a decent start to the tournament as he smashed a fifty in the first match against SRH but then failed in the last two matches.
